I sometimes post odd raise sizes against decent players just to mess with their thinking. It works well against all types.

[/ QUOTE ]

How does it mess with them and how do you know? I think raising different hands to the same size is a much better approach as it restricts their odds, but still mixes up your PF range enough to confuse them. I raise to diff. amounts, but never anything to give them great odds to call. It's awesome when I make it 4xBB UTG with 22 or 33 or something, get reraised small enough to call, and stack Aces on a 357 board. The perks of raising small pairs UTG. I should have said, I meant postflop, and usually when HU. For example, I'm cool with minraising what looks like a cbet. I usually have to be ahead here, and only do this to players with brains enough to know I'll be taking it all the way down most of the time (not always though of course - someone who doesn't bluff in poker now and again isn't playing well).

I find there are assorted spots you can do non-standard bets, often less than a typical bet or raise in that spot, and you get exactly the same leverage - sometime more than you get with a full raise/bet in fact.

This is extra useful when the pot/stacks are such even an underbet is still a clear path to stacking by the end, and the board is raggy.

I just bought two Dell 24" 2407WFPs - 1920x1200. I currently 12-table on a 11.1" widescreen Sony laptop. YES, I AM DEAD SERIOUS.

They are getting cheap enough that this is sort of reasonable. Does your laptop have 2 video outs or are you switching computers? I would miss being able to play while droppin deuces.

[/ QUOTE ]

Awesome reply. I bought a desktop because I miss having a general hub where I can keep EVERYTHING (external hardrive of porn and mp3s, Media Center [tivo], bluetooth devices, etc...). I've been playing on my laptop for some time now, and it's just not able to run 12 tables, PT, and PAHUD anymore without lagging big time. Also, I work full time and am able to get in 50k hands, so I can at least partially afford this.

I will no doubt miss taking massive [censored] while still making $$$.

So, uh, it turns out that I still suck at controlling tilt

Lost two buy ins in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep and decided that running at 40/20 was a good idea against loose calling stations

I read good too. SB vs BB 3 handed. He raises and I call with 99. I've been playing loose (actually, just being a card rack) so I figure he probably isn't giving me credit for a hand. Flop comes out 5 high, he bets, I raise, and he pushes. I put him on AK, obv, and call. He DID have AK, except that it was KK instead. Oh yeah, I play poker goot.

Then some joker calls a large 3bet with A6s semi-short stacked and I OF COURSE try to move him off his hand with my JJ when the board comes ace high- expert.

Finally, toward the end of this tilt-session, I settled down and started playing good poker again and managed to win back half a buy in- but I hate that one miserable session where I played like a total donk messed up my awesome graph- I've been playing so well for the last three weeks, even when I had a few bad hands where I lost a stack getting in with way the best of it I didn't tilt and just played solid. Well, until last night.

Oh well, tilt is still a leak for me. *sigh*

On a side note, I had no idea that middle of the night players were so bad. I mean, I realize I played bad, but the rest of the table was playing even worse. I had no idea the games could be so soft. I image I could have made a nice profit if I'd actually been on my game.

What time we talking?

I seem to be cured of tilt since I bustoed. So maybe it did me a big long-term favour.

What time we talking?

[/ QUOTE ]It was like 2-4 am Eastern Pacific.

This table was soooo good- it was like playing against 4/180 players but deep and for real money. There was a guy limp/calling EVERYTHING and felting top pair. We had a $100 all in PF pot with A3 vs A8. Totally sick.

In fact, that the table was so good was why I kept playing, even though I knew I was tilting. SOME of my loss was due to the high variance of a table like this, but some of it was definitely because of doing stupid stuff (like that JJ vs A6 hand).

I'm not sure playing in the middle of the night counts as "tilt". It's probaby more just stupid play, similar to playing drunk.
