ah jeez yer right well we'll exercise our option and then trade him after we win the WS since i am assuming tito is too stupid to stop using gagne despite a large sample size of terrible performance [/ QUOTE ] Wake up, Kyle! The Sox fans want NOW not 2 years from now when your statement converges. Borowski would be great right now. Your idea is retarded for Cleveland atm. |

btw gagne looked afwul tonight. there is no getting around that. he should probably be used as the 3rd man from the pen going forward as even at his best this year he just doesnt = okijima. or perhaps he needs 15 days on the DL. whatever. he looked awful tonight. nothing unlucky about it. [/ QUOTE ] Thank you. This is pretty much what I've been saying. Let Gagne pitch in situations that aren't as critical as setup man or closer until he gets his [censored] together. An ironic thing from last night. Delcarmen wouldn't throw his fastball which had been blazing lately, in favor of his change and got burnt bad. Gagne wouldn't throw anything but fastballs(13 straight to that first batter). Gagne's fastball was very consistent 92-93, but straight as a die. No way he was going to get by with that. Edit: I forgot all about this. There is a rumor that the Red Sox front office had to promise Gagne that he would set up and close when Pap wasn't available for him to waive the no trade clause. |

[ QUOTE ] An ironic thing from last night. Delcarmen wouldn't throw his fastball which had been blazing lately, in favor of his change and got burnt bad. Gagne wouldn't throw anything but fastballs [/ QUOTE ] Did you watch the Kotchman at-bat? [/ QUOTE ] I sure did. After throwing 13 consecutive, straight(as in no movement whatsoever) fastballs to the batter before where he could not get a swing and miss he started Kotchman off with two curve balls that weren't close and he ended up walking him. So he lost confidence with his breaking stuff and tried to get by with fastballs that had no movement. It didn't work. The Irony comes in that the guy who didn't have a great fastball was forced to rely on it where the guy who recently had an electric fastball for no reason whatsoever decided not to use it. |
