This is why paranoic withchunts are dangerous.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. If online poker has no system to detect this problem, then individually investigating top online players in the only solution.

[/ QUOTE ]

Paranoic witchunts do not constitue a "system."

[/ QUOTE ]

You say this form of cheating is widespread. How is it paranoia if they really are out to get us?

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course they are out to get us. You didn't need me to tell you that, just like I didn't need to have firsthand knowledge of anything to infer that it occurs.

Also, I have no real way of guaging how widespread it is/was: Millions of people play online poker. I knew of a few who were doing this.

I feel like I should point out that these three accounts are in the $530:

1. Exclusive
2. Who is next
3. El Capitano

Anyone suspicious of anything here?

[/ QUOTE ]

I sent this email off.....

Hello,

The following accounts have been known to be played by the same player.

Can you please do an IP check, and what ever else you do to make sure they are not being played by the same person.

They are all registered in the MIllion Guaranteed tourney.

1. Exclusive
2. Who is next
3. El Capitano

Regards,
Friendly Neighbourhood Woodguy

This is not cool. Take out your history book and look at what happened in salem in the 1600s. I have personally played on dozens of accounts on many different sites (mainly when friends got up to take a piss or w/e). I don't know, or want to know what noah did, however just because three accounts that he has played on in the past are in this tourny doesnt mean he is cheating.

The phrase innocent till proven guilty comes to mind- unfortunately pokerstars isnt run out of the USA.

BTW im not going to post anymore in this stupid thread, and please dont pm me, or attack my character for someone who might be cheating... he might be, but asking stars to look into it w/ no information on him is not cool.

Please clarify your position on reporting suspected cheats. You obviously don't believe in personally reporting cheaters, but are you actually against other people reporting them? And, this reporting of cheaters doesn't amount to a "witch hunt." The sites merely investigate the account(s) of those who have been reported and if those accounts are clean then the suspected cheat has nothing to worry about.

[/ QUOTE ]

My position on reporting/catching cheats is that it's the site's responsibility to do it. If individuals want to act on their suspicions, it's their right, but it's not the sort of thing I want to participate in.

[ QUOTE ]
I know it hurts to see many of your cheating friends taken down, but you must realize that as a friend of cheaters you are an enemy to myself and every other honest player. That is the choice you have made.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, none of the players that have been taken down have been friends of mine, and I won't hurt at all if someone I know happens to go down for this. They knew the risks when they made their choice to multi-account.

Edit: One could say that ZJ and I were friends. I have had dinner with the young man and shared a hotel room with him during a poker tournament. We have never been particularly close though.

Durr,

I haven't attacked anyone in these threads, so I don't know where you are getting that from.

These are 3 accounts that have been investigated before, and at one time found that Noah played 2 of them in one tourney.

Now they are playing in the tourney I paid to play in.

Am I supposed to just sit and hope he's not cheating?

I'm not picking people at random here.

Woodguy

I feel compelled to help make this thread longer.

How do we know that PokerStars isn't checking into the El Capitano thing as we speak? Should PokerStars make a general announcement to everyone everytime they launch an investigation? And if they don't find anything do you expect them to announce that to everyone as well? I'm not saying they are checking this situation out, I'm just saying that assuming they're not is kind of silly.

I don't understand why Stars has been singled out this way anyways. Whatever system Party has in place to detect this kind of thing obviously doesn't get the job done as well, but everyone was congratulatory towards Party at the beginning of the thread. Is is just because we've come to expect so much more from PS suuport that we are disappointed when they happen to do the same thing we applaud Party for? I just don't understand it.

Of course. The point is to have PokerStars look and see if they can be proven guilty. Do you think any punitive action will be taken if they are playing clean? I don't.

I wonder if Stars waited to make the ZJ announcement until they were close to begin with the $530 out of fear that they would get stucked with the 1M guaranteed if players stayed away?

[/ QUOTE ]

William,

Your paranoia is quite laughable. You just throw out conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory that are typically quite over the top. That said, please continue stirring pot so we can reach 3k!

This thread is about ZJ, it was a sng with ZJ and JJ. There was poker content, which even though I play bad somebody might get some help from it.

You treat this board like a kindergarten class, show a little respect to other posters by not locking and deleting their threads. It is annoying.

Jeremy,

It is provably impossible to prevent multiple instances from running.

[/ QUOTE ]

It is not impossible at all. It is quite easy. I've done it with programs I've written.

Well, technically the second+ instance starts, it just exits immediately upon detection of an already running instance.

[/ QUOTE ]

But it is impossible to prevent someone from having multiple computers / multiple internet connections. This is probably a problem that isn't going away.
