I want the Grizzles to lose, but they almost got jobbed tonight by the Refs. That foul call on the 2nd to last play of the game was just rediculous.

The Jazz are very, very good.
Two things dawned on me as I flipped over to this game during commercials of Celtics games. 1. The Carmelo/ Iverson thing is fine. It's that the rest of the team is [censored] terrible. I don't think Denver is going to make the playoffs. 2. Millsap and Brewer were both excellent, excellent, rookie selections. Whoever the Jazz GM is, my hat is off to you. It's so funny that teams like Orlando and Atlanta take a similar shooting guard/ power forward combo (Redick/ Shelden) when the Jazz were able to get much better players later in the draft at the same positions. No wonder some teams suck so much. |

It also doesn't help that they can't defend a simple pick and roll, that's all Utah did for 48minutes. |

Camby and Nene is one of the worst frontcourts in the Western Conference. JR Smith is a pretty good scorer, but he's a total knucklehead, and is terrible defensively. And ya, Deron Williams is probably second best pick and roller after Nash in the association right now. |

M-V-DIRK! [/ QUOTE ] Almost goes for another triple double tonight, finishing with 31 points, 11 boards and 8 assists, and another easy win for the Mavs. |

[/ QUOTE ] Almost goes for another triple double tonight, finishing with 31 points, 11 boards and 8 assists, and another easy win for the Mavs. [/ QUOTE ] Your cause must not have much support if you need to resort to quoting your own posts. This brings up an interesting dilemma, in this case whether the Suns' sucking in Nash's absence makes him a better candidate than Nowitski. Shouldn't Dirk's durability be given props over Nash's fragility? Probably not, maybe Dirk can help his cause by going down for a few games. This reminds me of something from Wilt's autobiography that was pretty interesting. He wondered if a superstar rooted for a team to win in his absence, or whether he couldn't help but hope for them to fail, thus validating his value. I don't think he answered the question but at least he brought it up. IIRC, I also think Wilt railed against the stupidity of the prevent defense in football, so the guy did have some pretty good ideas. |

Tuq,
Your boy Hollinger had something in his latest chat about the issue you present. Zain Atl: John, u have jurk... I meant.. dirk as ur MVP. but seeing the suns last 2 games I give my MVP vote to Nash. John Hollinger: (2:16 PM ET ) That'd be fun to explain to Dirk that he isn't the MVP because he played all 82 games. CB again: It's easily a two man race at this point, but I would think Dirk has to be the front-runner, especially if the Mavs keep winning at this same clip and finish with 67+ wins. |

I love the ass-backwards reasoning of Nash's absence improving his MVP candidacy.
I thought the Spurs' uniforms tonight looked really sharp. |

Heh, the Suns and Hawks just had one of the most entertaining quarters I've seen in awhile. Incredible highlight reel material from Amare, Josh Smith, and then Marvin Williams made a shot at the buzzer from way behind and over the backboard at the buzzer. Excellent.
Steve Smith was the guest analyst tonight. He seemed to know his stuff. I remember him winning a bunch of citizenship awards during his career. I also remember having lunch at the bar at Houston's one day, he was also there because it is right next to the Ritz-Carlton where all the road teams stay. He came in by himself and decided to strike up conversation with the middle-aged chick sitting next to him. Seemed like a really nice guy and it was nice to see an athlete out doing his own thing without some sort of posse, not to mention she probably had no idea who he was... EDIT: Amare has 43/15/6 as the game winds down. Pretty sick. |
