99.99% sure the pro being interviewed is Layne Flack. [/ QUOTE ] FWIW I played $25/50 with him last year, and I could see how he could go broke...he was drunk, raising 1/2 the pots, playing hands blind, letting John D'Agastino play off his money when he went to the bathroom(I don't think theres anything wrong EV wise with that, but still I think that letting someone else play with your money shows a lack of respect for money), etc. On one hand, Gigabet raised to $250 preflop and then Flack pushed all in blind. |

[ QUOTE ] Gather all players who played in the Event Weed down to the ones that play golf Weed down to the ones that seem depressed Weed down to the ones that have children Weed down to the ones that made some type of deep run in an MTT in the last 1.5 years Bingo Wasn't that hard was it? [/ QUOTE ] Dude you don't even have to do that. The Hendon Mob just added a new feature to their search database. [/ QUOTE ] Gold. |

people keep saying this player is "broke" but having a 300k house to sell is far from being broke, just in the context of high stakes it is. 300k is a lot of money when the average wage per year is 25k where I live.

[ QUOTE ]
I thought the main point of the interview was telling: that many high profile live players are busto or near busto and have little chance of recovering. There was another post today in a forum with a reply to the WPT and he mentioned that many players there are busto and need to make more than 12/1 on their buy in (Bellagio championship) that they get for coming in 6th. We've known for a long time that staking is going on but the extent of it among "name" pros that TV has promulgated as being the "best of the best" is interesting. [/ QUOTE ] I think it's a HUGE jump from anonymous claims in a short interview to where you just arrived, Rott I give that statement about 1/100 weight, but I have no knowledge of the pro poker world, in order to judge accurately. I'm just really leery of what seems to be a current 'Net culture of "statement=fact" (in poker and everything else) |
