"Tiger vs Hippo is closer but I say tiger - a hippo is fast but a tiger is much more agile. People are saying the tiger has to get close enough to be bitten/pancaked by the hippo, but tigers kill animals by attacking them from behind and biting their necks. I think the tiger will eventually be able to accomplish this on a hippo"

Both lions and tigers hunt this way- but ONLY on smaller prey- the bite to the back of the neck is to break the neck, they are not big/strong enough to break the neck of larger animals this way. When lions hunt prey larger than themselves they have to drag it down and suffocate it. NO way a tiger kills ahippo with one bite to the neck, and if that sucker rolls even a little when trying to suffocate it- nighty night.

Agreed, but I was envisaging the tiger only getting close when it could dodge to the back and attack from there - several times. he can definitely severely weaken him with one or two of those. My thinking is simply that a tiger is about 1000 times more agile than a hippo. It's like Liston/Ali - everyone thought Liston would steamroll Ali with his heavy punches, and he could move pretty well himself, but he just couldn't hit Ali and got creamed. I don't see that a tiger is going to let a hippo trample/bite him.

Nah - by the sixth tournament they'll have banned biting and kicking to the head.
