William Defoe in To Live and Die in LA, an underrated thriller starring CSI's Petersen and directed by the wonderful Friedkin.
Don't think he was well-known prior to this, most know him from Platoon. |

Ben Stiller is one of the American POW's in "Empire Of The Sun". [/ QUOTE ] Wow. Wasn't Malkovich in that too? And of course the kid... |

chris meloni as the effeminate hotel desk clerk in fear and loathing in las vegas.
Maura Tierney was also in a law and order episode in the second season(she was the one up for the crime or something like that IIRC) |

Kirsten Dunst was Claudia in Interview With a Vampire. Not sure if that counts.
I remember being really surprised when I watched Crimson Tide and realized that Vigo Mortensen has a decent sized role in it. |

This is good. Particularly cause Ben Stiller is pretty instantly recognizable |

Someone mentioned that Johnny Drama was in Platoon but no one has mentioned that Johnny Depp was in Platoon. This is also one of the funniest jokes in all of Entourage when Terrence talks to Eric at the end of Season 2 and mentions how Sloan knew after seeing Platoon that Depp would be a huge star (he has 30 seconds of screen time tops and no lines I believe) while Kevin Dillon is one of the main characters of that movie and now on Entourage playing basically himself. Am I doing ok El D?

You 'humbly admit' you were 100% wrong? Big of you!
Any movie with Robert Downey, Jen Tilly, Uma, and Anthony Michael Hall from the 1980s is *reasonably* well-known, if not Casablanca or Star Wars. Of course, I am a huge movie buff, so that skews things. |

Everybody's favorite TV cop, Dennis Franz, in Blow-Out with the aforementioned Travolta, of course.

Also, in the Wizard, like the best movie of all eternity, Tobey Mcquire has a tiny role as one of the power glove guy's lackies. It's pretty sweet.
Here's a Youtube link . |
