[ QUOTE ]
noob question: I just watched the Real Madrid game, and they said that since all 3 teams tied, Sevilla is eliminated. Coming into this week, Barcelona and Madrid were tied, and Sevilla was 2 points behind. How is Sevilla eliminated? If Sevilla wins next week, and Madrid and Barcelona both lose, wouldn't Sevilla have more points? or is the announcer just an idiot?

[/ QUOTE ]

The announcers were wrong. They were originally saying that Sevilla was eliminated because Barca was winning. But I guess they didn't change what they were saying when Espanyol tied it up.

Found this on another site . . .

Link between La Liga and Premiership winners . . .

2001 Real Madrid - Manchester United
2002 Valencia - Arsenal
2003 Real Madrid - Manchester United
2004 Valencia - Arsenal
2005 Barca - Chelsea
2006 Barca - Chelsea
2007 Real Madrid - Manchester United

Depends on whether Real Madrid (praying) takes it this year . . .

Nice goal by messi imitating the hand of god

I was neutral, since I don't care for either Madrid or Barcelona. But since seeing that goal, I'm actively rooting for Madrid.

I decided to capture this for 'ya . . .

. . . does it change your opinion? It changed mine after I watched it last night.

This is Tamudo's goal (90') by the way . . .

This doesn't mean that Messi wasn't wrong for what he did but it changed the way I felt the game was played. Both teams were screwed in one way or another. The game was fairly played . . . (although I'm not comfortable saying that).

I agree with one of the commentators that there needs to be another referee who watches play in the penalty box . . .

In that picture, tamudo, imo, is clearly onside.

In the last world cup I struggled a bit to accept the idea that there might a new Argentina now. Apparently not. (not denying that their play is impressive.) And after getting behind Barcelona so solidly this year, this is really tough. (and he hasn't even spent that much time in Arge. has he? I guess it's deep in the blood.)

As Shoxbox said, Tamudo was clearly on-side in that capture. (look at the Barca defender by the penalty box. Clearly closer to the goal line than Tamudo.)

Even if he wasn't, don't you think there's a difference between being caught in an offside trap by a few inches and blatantly slapping the ball into the goal?

Of course . . .

The announcers were saying he was offsides the whole time. I got another capture. I think Zambrotta ruined the trap and Thurman thought they were in order and was making the claim . . .

Maybe it was the camera angle. But I accept defeat.

I was thinking that two defenders needed to be in front of Tamuda but I just forgot about the goalkeeper. Shoot me please . . .

I overanalyzed this situation way too much.
