These Men with Broken Hearts
Luke the Drifter You'll meet many just like me upon life's busy street. With shoulders stooped and heads bowed low and eyes that stare in defeat. Or souls that live within the past where sorrow plays all parts. Where a living death is all that's left for men with broken hearts. You have no right to be the judge to criticize and condemn. Just think but for the grace of God it would be you instead of him. One careless step a thoughtless deed and then the misery starts. And to those who weep, death comes cheap these men with broken hearts. Oh so humble you should be when they come passing by, For it's written that the greatest men never get too big to cry. Some lose faith in love and life when sorrow shoots her darts. And with hope all gone they walk alone, these men with broken hearts. You've never walked in that man's shoes or saw things through his eyes. Or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies. Some were paupers, some were kings, and some were masters of the arts. But in their shame they're all the same these men with broken hearts. Life sometimes can be so cruel that a heart will pray for death. God why must these living dead know pain with every breath? So help your brother along the road no matter where he starts. For the God that made you made them too--these men with broken hearts. |

I know this is the obvious answer, but 'Hurt'. I am a huge Johnny Cash fan and this is the goddamn saddest song that I have ever heard. 'The Ballad of Ira Hayes' is also a hugely depressing song, but it almost goes over the top in its maudlin glory. [/ QUOTE ] Have you heard I Hung My Head by Cash? Saddest thing in the world. |

Wow. I agree w/ a TON of these songs. Danny Boy especially as they played it at my grandfather's funeral, then did the 21 gun salute what a powerful thing. Sia - Breath Me (I have felt this way SO many times) Help, I have done it again I have been here many times before I Hurt myself again today And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small I'm needy Warm me up And breathe me Ouch I have lost myself again Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found, Yeah I think that I might break Lost myself again and I feel unsafe Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small I'm needy Warm me up And breathe me Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small I'm needy Warm me up And breathe me [/ QUOTE ] The only time I've ever heard this song is during the end of the SFU series finale. The scene would have been sad even without it, but the addition of this song took it to a whole different level. Just thinking about the scene makes me want to go watch this episode again. Here is the ending in case anyone else felt like watching it again after seeing this song mentioned. SFU Ending |

I just rediscovered "the Flag," by Barenaked Ladies. If any woman has been a victim of abuse, it would be pretty hard to listen too.

Of songs not meantioned:
Damage Done - Niel Young Of songs that may have been mentioned, but I didn't check: Shine on you crazy diamond - Pink Floyd The only song that I don't like to listen to because it's sad is "tears from heaven." Yeah, it's cheesy and it's not that great of a song but it's about his 2 year old that fell off a balcony. After you youngsters have some kids you want want to be hearing that either. |

omg I forgot Neutral Milk Hotel's "Two-Headed Boy, Pt. 2" [/ QUOTE ] Correct! Answer! Now you can feel sad about your dad, some broad, and some kid, all at the same time, in one convenient emotional barrage. |
