Isn't 5k a sufficient bankroll for $1/2 NL?

I just am used to playing $22 tournaments, so if I lose or win a $100 its not a big deal.
I think I just need to refocus, take a day off and get back at it. I think I play better than these people, I really do, but I guess there are night when the cards wont come and Ill get sucked out on. |

Not really, 25 buyins for a tournament player. Heehaw.
I'd say play 50-100nl, big part of nl is being comfortable with the money at stake so you can play your best, and not worry about the results short term. |

Since this thread has gotten into general discussion, I was wondering what you all thought about donkaments. Are they worth the time as opposed to simply playing cash games during that time? Could someone inform me of how I can learn about the payout structure? I really just have no clue about tournaments.

FGators,
This is the second time you've asked if you have a large enough BR. Chill man, chill. |

If you are so risk adverse that dropping three buy-ins is destroying your mental state, then $5K is not enough, $20K is likely not enough. While your card skills may well be good enough, or likely even better than you will commonly face at 1/2, your mental state is not even close. Drop down in limits, continue to play your SnG's. Once you are not playing scared money, move up and play more ring than SnG. |

[/ QUOTE ] Is it worth your time, well on a strictly dollar per hour basis, unless you are a VERY VERY strong favorite to finish 1st-3rd, your time is better spent in cash games. MTT's generally pay out the top 10% of entrants, with the vast majority of players barely making their entry fee's back. All the payout is weighted towards the final table, and mostly to 1st and 2nd place. Open any running Stars MTT and look at the tournament info. Check out the MTT forum... lots of good information there. |
