I have a hard time believing that a drop of 30-40 buy ins at 11s can be attributed totally to variance. That said, I would recommend stars $6.50s until you hit 350-400, then move to Party 11s.

FWIW - I also think that party $11s are softer than the stars $6.5s

It's pretty difficult to rate your abilities since your whole bankroll just came from one big score. Since you only want to play with $220 at this time, I would start with the $5.50's. Since you probably do have a good idea of what you're doing you should be able to move up to the $11's in no time, I would say when your bankroll hits $400 or so. Keep your bankroll healthy and move up when you have a number of buy-ins you feel comfortable with and the opponents you are against. The number of buy-ins is very different for everyone, just make sure it's a number where you're not playing scared. You don't seem super conservative and you're not broke if you lose it so 35-40 should be good enough. Don't be afraid to take occassional shots at the higher levels when you're thinking about moving up. Anyway, good luck and I hope to see you more on the forums!

Nice reply.

This is what I'd do if I had only $220 for poker. If you run bad for a while you can always drop down to a lower rake game at Stars. Move to Party when you have a bigger bankroll if you want to do that.

The 5.50s and 6.50s at Stars are very beatable and a very good place to build a bankroll IMO.

$220 is a little light for the $11s. If you can afford $330, I'd play the $11s.

All the advice in this theard sucks. If you only have $220 you should the $5.50s and your be underrolled for playing them.

You obviously didnt read it carefully enough if you think it all sucks. I said he can drop down to lower limits at Stars if he hits a bad streak.

Maybe I wasnt clear enough.

They have many games smaller than 5.50s and 6.50s. If you hit a cold streak before you build your roll up, you can play cheaper games for a while.
