Sorry I'm new to this betting thing. You're going to have to tell me how to post that. If you posted my current record the way you want it I'm sure I'd get what you mean.

[/ QUOTE ]

No problem. The best way is to do it just like you are doing, but instead do everyting as one unit. So, if you had: ATL +120 (2 units) and CIN -130 (2.6 units) and that was all for the year:

YTD 2-0-0: +2.20 units (+4.60 weighted)

That is it really. If you would have lost you would have both listed again like above, but with losses included. You don't have to go back through your old threads and figure it out. Just start doing it from this thread on. Thanks again.

Craig I'm not posting baseball picks, but I am trying to follow what others are posting while learning to bet baseball well.

I'm not sure I understand how you are asking him to record his record, and would like to understand. If you don't mind (or someone else can answer) I'll give a fake sample of 10 games below and tell me how the record should be listed.
All bets equal units:

Red Sox -140 Loss
Yankees -180 Loss
Royals +280 Win
Red Sox -110 Win
Nationals +135 WIN
Braves -115 Win
Cardinals +107 LOSS
Royals +300 Loss
Astros -220 LOSS
Mariners +130 Win

How should these results list as a record? Once I see it I should understand, thanks.

Okay, I will do this for you, but somebody has to write a better explanation in the FAQ for me : We wll assume that you sometimes bet two units on a game and you put that in the post as well. I changed the above on two games just to show you.

YTD: 5-5 +1.87 units (weighted record: +2.27 units)

The reason other sites and 2+2 are doing this now is that record is very misleading in games with ML and a weighted record can be deceiving, since somebody can make a 10 unit bet to get out of the hole. If I am new at this and want to follow somebody's picks for fun and I see "how much" they "won", then I could easily be fooled if that is all I looked at (especially if someone said it isn't W/L record in baseball and that is all I heard).

Craig, only problem I have with this is not very many people will know what the heck is going on with listing records that way. O.k. maybe thoese in the know will know what's going on but for casual fans like me records like this will only confuse. I'll just post my weighted and unweighted record seperate. People generally catch on to people who pull crap like 10 star picks to get out of the hole.

O.K. I think I just caught something else.

example:
CIN -130 (2.6 units)

Generally, when I play favorites(- not +) I consider one star whatever the minus(-) is at. So I'm guessing I have been posting my picks in a format which is considered incorrect. I am very specific when I mention how much I'm risking to win though so this shouldn't be an issue.

O.k. I get unweighted(every pick one star) vs. weighted(starred picks). So I'm going to post my YTD record what I believe it is(with one star picks being whatever the '-' is at).

YTD 5-3-0, +2.69 units
(unweighted: +2.29, weighted: +2.69)

I'm looking at the lines now. I will probably post at least one pick, not for sure though.

are you talking about the "2.6" unit part? i think if your untis are $100 and you want to bet $260 on CIN to win $200, that would just be considered 2 units as opposed to 2.6 units. if i am wrong, can someone let me know.

I didn't realize I was so bad at explaining this. Sorry about that everybody.

Here is the easiest way to do this:

Taking dog: One unit to win +X units (+200; 1 unit to win 2 unit)

Taking fav: x.x units to win one unit (-150; 1.5 units to win 1 unit)

That is pretty much it. If you were betting to win 2 units on the example fav above it would be 3 units to win 2.

I hope this clears this up.

YTD 5-3-0, +2.69 units
(unweighted: +2.29, weighted: +2.69)

MLB
** Oakland/Seattle Over 8 -109
2 star pick, 2.18 units to win 2 units
A's should be able to score plenty of runs off of Moyer. I expect Zito to be his normal struggling self in April against the underrated bats of Seattle.

MLB
** Houston(R. Oswalt must start) -168
2 star pick, 3.36 units to win 2 units
Livan is good but I just like Oswalt alot here. Taking a heavy number(-168), I still see decent value here though.

Third and final pick for tomorrow, 3 star pick.

MLB
*** Minnesota/Cleveland Over 9 -111
3 star pick, 3.33 units to win 3 units
Battle of the bad starters. People rip on Minnesota's offense, it's not that bad, they aren't good though. Cleveland should be able to get to Baker. Johnson is a below average starter who will probably get knocked up as well by the Twins, bad career numbers against the Twins.
