[ QUOTE ]
I raise pf as well. I think the river is very close. [/ QUOTE ] I agree about the river. There isn't a K that villain could reasonably have that hero beats. I'm a little surprised everyone thinks the river call is so automatic. If the pot were a little bigger, I like a call. As it stands, I think it's at least borderline. |

[/ QUOTE ] We're getting 9.5 to 1 against an unknown, and the flop had 2 broadway cards so he could've been going to town with something like AQ/AJ, maybe a mid pocket pair. Also the river brought 4 to a straight, although we should never put villain on a 7, and villain should know this, some donkeys could bet hands they would've checked behind trying to rep the straight. |

[/ QUOTE ] Seems like a pretty big stretch to me. There are a crap load hands that he would reasonably play this way that beat us. And a few hands that he would rarely play like this that we do beat. |

You're a great poster and I'll defer to your experience (and I probably call this, too, in the heat of battle). But in defense of a river call not quite being standard:
[ QUOTE ] he could've been going to town with something like AQ/AJ, maybe a mid pocket pair. [/ QUOTE ] I guess so. But the only midpocket pair that doesn't beat us by the river is 55. If he 3-bets us on the flop with that, god bless him. And though it's only 18 hands, villain has folded a lot more hands than he's played. A maniac usually can't stand to play less than 1/2 his hands over any length of time. edit: removed erroneous preflop analysis |
