You could be facing another pocket pair, jj or tt would be wise to raise flop to gain info. He may just think he's got you beat with his pair.

as it turns out villain was really passive as the small sample suggested, he turned over KK after I called [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

A 20 hand sample is almost meaningless. I call here 100% due to the check on the turn. You induce a bluff against most villains by doing this, so you have to be prepared to call against most villains on the river then. If he was passive over a larger sample then its an easy fold.

good line if he's fish/aggressive. If he's the passive type tho I'd bet the turn to get value from overcalls on OESFD, open enders with the flush draw, A-high flush draws, etc. Not to mention you can make a slightly smaller bet on the turn.
Of course I never bet the river, but he's passive and won't bluff so no problem there. If he's really passive like 0.3 AF or something stupid I sometimes just instamuck the flop which is pretty funny haha... |
