Whenever you think you are ahead and IP on the river, valuebet. You would be surprised to see the holdings they call you with.
The situation you presented is not even close. 3/4 pot. |

This is obviously a value bet, but maybe not as much as other people are advocating.
People like to talk about hand reading with regard to decisions on the flop and turn but its just as important in river value betting situations. So think about what he can have here and what bet size he will pay off with his range. Realistically you will get value from JJ TT QJs maybe 88 77 and Ah9h Th9h 9h8h - I think the only hand you worry about is an unlikely AQ, but i doubt the best bet size is 3/4 pot, a ~$25 bet will probably have higher ev in this spot. |
