as far as how it works out, I raised the flop as pretty much a bluff, cuz I'm done at that point, and he folded.

I generally don't cold-call preflop with these hands. Do you generally do this? How's it work out?

[/ QUOTE ]

I generally don't either, but I had a lot of things going for me here and we were 135bb effective.

[/ QUOTE ]

IK didn't notice that. With deeper effective stacks I can dig it.

You didn't answer my question from earlier though...

I know it is a specific question, so if you don't know that's cool. I do think that how he plays those respective hands will have a big effect on your best line.

There are many possibilities with a hand like this. How will this guy play the rest of the hand if he has a pair of A's? How much bluffing does he do OOP?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think he does a lot of bluffing...at least I've not seen it. That's why I thought this would be the cheapest street to raise and see what's up.

I will say this, tho. If he's paid attention, I've gotten aggressive with him on draws many times and have mixed up my play well against with with monsters and draws. Basically, if he doesn't have an A or a FF, I'm pretty sure he's done here 99% of the time.

What advantages does raising here have over waiting until the turn?

My thoughts are that the pot is smaller, so my raise is smaller and risk is lower.

I mean, waiting until the turn to see what he does. If he checks he probably has nothing and you can bet and pick up the pot. If he bets again he probably has you beat and you can fold.

I think the reason I've not done that is because I fold to 2nd barrels too often, and I think some have caught that. I'm trying to grow a calling sack IP on the turn, but it's taking a while to grow.
