So all jacks fold to a raise?

[/ QUOTE ]

No but it does fold a few Jacks out, but it definitley folds out TT and below which many people will donk into you with these hands. It probably folds out most FDs as well. but it will never fold out an over pair a 5 or a decent jack.

What do you hope to gain by raising on the flop? Do you want a jack to fold???

Are you worried that he is going to make 2 pair? Why? the 5s out there counterfeit his 2 pair if he makes it. (Obv QJ or under)

So please explain to me what the purpose of this is? he's way more likely to fold to a flop raise then he is to a turn bet if a blank peels off and he checks to you. you fire 1/2 or 2/3 pot and he calls committing himself on river to your push.

^^ is a pretty standard way to play this hand imo. YOu just got unlucky the J killed everything on the turn.

You got MUBS.

This is 10NL, with no reads on villain. We got QQ, this is an awesome flop for us. He donked, congratulations. He's unknown, to assign him a range of Jx or 5x is ridiculous. He could be doing this with AQ, AK, any two clubs, any pocket pair, Ax even. You gotta raise this flop so he doesn't catch up. If he gotta 5, we are going broke. Calling flop lets him hit his overcard, his flush, or his jack.

Raising flop to find out where you are at is a must.

Exactly. Any Jack or club draw calls, 5s re-raise. Why not get value for your QQ? Any club, K, A or J may help him and kill QQ -- I just don't understand why we are letting him catch up relatively cheaply.

Any flop raise that puts half your stack in the middle is not "for information" or "to find out where you're at".

Given your stack size relative to the pot, you raise the flop for one reason and one reason only - you think you have the best hand against villain's range so you're committed and want to get all your chips in the middle as soon as possible.
