[ QUOTE ]
I appreciate the responses. Let's put aces, kings and AKs into the mix. Do you ever open limp with them in the "typical" ring game or do you assume there will be enough cold callers anyway so that you always open raise with them? If you do open limp with them: 1) How frequently would you do it? Not very often. Its gotta be a very specific situation like a maniac to my left and I'm utg or a very aggro guy who likes to iso a lot to my left. Outside of that I don't see the need to do it. Let me also say that I play mostly online games and only occasionally live so I don't see the same players often enough for them to get significant reads on me about stuff like that. 2) Would this depend on your table image at the time? Yes, I hate playing tricky when I'm running bad b/c it can put me on serious tilt if I lose the pot and I'm also more likely to outhink myself when running bad. 3) If you've been "caught" doing this, what other hands, if any, would you later do this with? (Assuming you want to "balance" you strategy- ala Stox's recommendation.) Never really considered this b/c of the games and people I play with [/ QUOTE ] |

It depends on how you define "typical".
If you mean loose/passive w not that much preflop raising I would say play any pp, suited bw, or sc from 89+. I'll also limp A8s+ in these games. If the games alittle tougher( meaning more raises preflop/ w less players to flop). Id play (66+) for pps, and (QJs+) in ep. I very rarely limp hands like AK/AA. in ep. Unless im trying to get tricky for some reason. |

it sounds crazy but i think i became a better player in loose passive games when i started open limping more...
wow.. 99 is upstairs for me everytime for me utg in 9 handed games... i think limping hands like AJo and KQo in loose passive games can be great because ppl can't fold top pair and u'll get the A3o and k9o to pay you all the way... |
