I would join in. But I've just done this (obv brag). I went from 255 to 200 so far this year. I posted about it (w/ pics) in the H&F forum: H&F thread. I also made a thread awhile ago in OOT when I was at 225, but the picture links from it are now broken: OOT thread. I had a similar moment around Christmas of 2006. I was just tired of it. And I finally just turned things around and became more health conscious. I'm going to lose around 20 more, but things are a little slower going for me these days. While I dropped 25 lbs in the first 35 days, I expect the next 20 to take, probably, 4 more months. That's okay though, no rush. Good luck to all of you, I hope this goes down. It's WELLLLL worth it when you drop a significant amount of weight. I feel 1000000x better than I used to. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I saw your post, and your pics. Congrats on your results. I also posted this in H & F, but I thought there might be more interest here. |

Ah, just saw your post over there. It's probably better here because of the extra eyes even if it technically probably belongs over there.

Yeah, I could be up for something like this, because I was going to do it anyway. I've put on like 40 useless pounds in the last year or so, just from living to excess and being lazy as [censored]. I've been fat before and I don't like it and finally am sick enough of it to do something. I'm moving to Austin at the end of the month (wow, a city that actually promotes a healthy lifestyle!) so things should really kick up in earnest then. I'm currently about 6'1, 250 and should be between 200-220 depending on how much muscle I'm carrying. (200 = not much; 220 = too much)

I'm 5'9" 180. Two weeks ago I was 187. I've been playing lots of basketball and eating well. My goal is 165 by November, in addition to a 0.52 FG%.

Here's the deal. I'm a 32 year old, former athlete, former fitness enthusiast, former runner and gym-rat, who has absolutely let myself go to pot. I glanced in the mirror this morning after stepping out of the shower and something just snapped, I will not take one more day of looking, feeling and living like a fat slob. I am appalled by my appearance and some immediate and permanent changes are going to take place. I don't even know what I weigh right now, but I would guess around 250 lbs or so. I'm 6'1" with a decent amount of residual muscle under this mountain of flab. Anyways, is there anyone else on this forum who is also fed up with the way they are living and who wants to join/challenge me to a fat-killing duel? The stakes are unimportant, anything reasonable is fine. Let me know if you are interested and we'll set something up. Pictures, numbers, graphs, pie-charts, whatever, I don't give a flip. Let's do it. [/ QUOTE ] Damn and i just spent a couple grand on 2XLT clothing lol I'm 6'2" and weigh about 295lbs. 70lbs of which is pure fat. At one point when I was younger I was 225lbs, cut and built. For years after that I maintained a weight somewhere around 220lbs even though the muscle wained. Getting itno a serious relationship and then marriage has contributed to my rapid decent into obesity. Can we start off a challenge where you spot me the 2K to cover the clothing loss? lol |

[ QUOTE ] Mmmmmmm, pie charts. Age 40, 5'10" 230 - I'd also like to drop 50 lbs. What kind of time frame are we talking? [/ QUOTE ] Whatever people are comfortable with. New Years, Kwaanza, Halloween, Thanksgiving, whatever. I think it should be a minimum of two months, so that we can realize some significant results. My pick would be Thanksgiving or New Years, but again, I'm flexible. What do others think? And, seriously, let's get this mofo going STAT. LOL, at Mmmmmm, Pie Charts. Classic. [/ QUOTE ] I think rapid wt. loss is kinda bad for you dude, and it's much harder to maintain long term when it comes off fast. Just an FYI, if you start freakin at the gym 4 days/wk and don't stop you will be fine but in most cases when the wt comes off fast it comes back. |
