Agreed, the DH just dumbs the game down a little bit. I'm fine with the AL keeping it, but don't even start with the NL. [/ QUOTE ] How can you be fine with the AL keeping it, yet be so opposed to the NL adopting it? |

There's so little strategy anyway. Matter of fact, I can argue it enhances the relevant strategy.

[/ QUOTE ] Because 'my' team is an NL team, so I am a fan of the NL, watch the NL most often, etc. Its like saying I think the Dish network sucks but I don't care if my neighbors use it. |

The reason is because (imo) the coolest part of the DH is that one league has it and one doesn't. I like some variation in my life. |

[/ QUOTE ] selecting a DH has a bigger effect on the game than double switches/pinch hitters/sacrifice bunts but double switches and pinch hitters are fun - i like it the way it is, even though i'm an AL guy. |

Yeah, what Triumph said. It offers more versatility and flexibility in the lineup, a whole extra roster spot that means a lot. It gives you the flexibility to deal with nursing injuries, and makes you think about the health issues involved with some type of players. Remember Manny's injury last year? He could've DHed and played through it more effectively if David Ortiz couldn't play anything but DH. That's strategy right there. It offers more platoon opportunities for guys who would otherwise not make it. It can get better guys in the lineup, guys who make baseball a better game, or it can exacerbate your horrible management (see: Twins).
This can have a 3-8 win impact on your season. The strategy without the DH is more plentiful, and you have more sheer options, which makes people think it's more strategical, but it doesn't have nearly as big an impact. A manager can bungle it all the time and it's not going to be a huge deal; bungle the DH and you get the Twins. |

yes of course i like it. [/ QUOTE ] Of course TheRover likes it! What a stupid question! Can't believe that all you baseball nerds aren't against the DH. I abhor it, but of course it will never go away since the union will always be there to support the aging fatasses that fill that spot in the lineup. |

The DH should be required to bat 9th.
