In Cardplayer's report, this was noted at the bottom:
[ QUOTE ] Note: A source close to Howard Lederer confirmed that he was a long-time member of the Corporation and had also considered coming out of retirement for a repeat run against Beal. [/ QUOTE ] Anybody know what this means? Is Howard Lederer retired from poker or just the Beal game? |

well he plays poker so he's a poker player. he's just not a professional poker player.
he has a huge roll (exact figure unknown but it's big) and he enjoys challenging himself against the best players in the world. his initial interest was to play for the highest stakes in the world (100k/200k I believe) and this is where the corporation came in. since no full-time pro has the roll to support those mega-high limits, they came together and pooled their rolls - each taking turns at playing Beal heads up. at least this is how i understood it to work. i'm looking forward to reading the book and finding out all the details. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm thinking they would have been better off pooling their money and letting only Ivey (and perhaps Lederer) play, and splitting the winnings (in a sense, they'd be staking Ivey). Of course, their egos probably would not let them just believe that Ivey is better than most of the other members of the corporation. |

Apparently Phil took him for 10 million today, over 16 million for three days.....and Andy has quit the game again.
