ff12 wtf? that game was good, but definitely doesn't belong on any top ten games list, unless it's "top 10 final fantasies"

the dark horse i would like to see on the list (but i know realistically wouldn't ever make it) is Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean machine. probably the ultimate game from the tetris family.

Tetris Attack.

Some iteration of Street Fighter 2 could make the list, or maybe one of the recent Virtua Fighters?

lol at FF 12. A great game, but it's really only better than 1, 2, 3, and 5.

Did they mean Final Fantasy VII?

I think the list (well, at least the top 10) is actually decent. I actually prefer both Mario 64 and Super Mario World to SMB3, but I realize I'm in the minority on that one. Never played HL2, and it sounds good, but from what I've heard it doesn't belong that high in a greatest games list.

[/ QUOTE ]

Seeing as Super Mario 64 is #3 on this list, top 5 on the 2 IGN lists, #1 on NextGen magazine's first list, #2 or 3 on NextGen's second list (Ocarina of Time replaced it), and is on just about any other list, you aren't in the minority (or if you are you're in the correct minority).

SMB3 is great and all, but 64 is a complete and utter masterpiece. No 3D game has come close to its perfection.

Mario 64 and Zelda 64 are the two that belong there without ANY doubt whatsoever.

1) Super Mario World should be replaced by Super Mario 3. World was great and all; but it was basically 3 with updated graphics and an updated map system. Plus they dumped the inventory and the mushroom houses which I loved. I don't have any problems with Mario 64 being rated higher; but that's a matter of personal preference.

2) FFXII is a retarded choice. The three best FF's are IV,VI,VII. With VI and VII being close.

3) RE4 is rated too high. Put it at 8.

4) There are no fighting games at all, which I think is semi-retarded. Street Fighter 2 basically invented the genre and sustained the arcade business for the better part of a decade.

Super Mario World should be replaced by Yoshi's Island.
