I'm just into the direct approach

Like the other poster said it probably doesn't matter much what you send to washington as they are just going to get a for/against tally, but your letter would be excellent to send to friends/family members/total strangers to help campaign for THEM to write their congressman/senator (and I might steal it for that very purpose).

I realized as much as I care about this I still haven't sent a letter. Guess Monday would be the time to do that.

send an email! and do it NOW!

with the increased security given to snail mail and goverment officials, it might not make it in time.

Word. I took a more direct approach, but stole your last paragraph.

Dear Representative XXXXX,

I am writing you in regard to H.R. 4777: The Internet Gambling Prohibition Act being introduced by Reps. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and Rick Boucher (D-VA).

I wish to inform you that I am STRONGLY OPPOSED to this bill and among my friends, family, and business associates, my view is not in the minority. We will be watching your vote on this matter closely as it will greatly influence our future votes in the 10th district.

Please speak for the majority of the citizens in your district and vote against this bill.

[/ QUOTE ]
This is perfect.

I sent this letter before reading this thread, and before it was formally introduced:

I urge you to vote against the upcoming Goodlatte-Boucher Internet Gambling Prohibition Act. I am one of millions of Americans who play poker, and one of hundreds of thousands who play poker online. The majority of Americans see nothing wrong with placing wagers, either online or offline. Our freedoms should not be limited by the moral views of a few extremists. Thank you.
