Buffets I choose to visit: Paris, Rio, Harrah's, Mirage, Bellagio, Wynn, Orleans, Gold Coast.

Wynn is good but I think overrated. I think Paris is better and Paris is cheaper (and my last visit a week ago the Paris crab legs were approaching the size of my wrist--MMMMMMmmmm). Rio has awesome selection, but quality is good, not great. Harrah's did a makeover a year ago or so and is now ok for $20 (not that I pay that--this is what poker room comps are for). Orleans and GoldCoast aren't really "good" by any stretch, but they don't suck and are price/performance winners.

Can't answer about Aladdin...haven't been there since the PH makeover began.

My GF and I went to the Bally's Sterling Brunch a few Sunday's ago and it was truly amazing. Bring your checkbook though as it was $65 a piece. All you can eat lobster and champaigne were great. Also, they had gigantic shrimp, nice rack of lamb, and caviar(if you are into that).

Also, I suggest making a reservation if you want to sit in the main dining room (Bally's Steakhouse). We didn't have a reservation and sat in the overflow seating at their Italian place. Still great service and atmosphere.

Thanks for all the info! I think we're gonna go with the Wynn since I've never been and would like to try it. Any advice on getting a comp or at least a line pass for Sunday brunch? I'm a poker player, but there will be 5 of us in the group. Thanks.

Advice - put in a ton of hours first. Make nice nice with the brush. Play right before you go out to brunch. Your not going to get full comps, they give you $20 towards the buffet for yourself, and they might do the same for others in your party if your extra nice.

I stayed there about 10 months ago and signed up for a Red Card, had to get x number of points on the card within 24 hours and got two free buffets and sunday was included.
Don't remember what "x" was exactly, but took maybe 45 minutes of 25cent 5 coin video poker to do. It wasn't an "advertised" thing, but someone else told me about so I asked and they did it for me. YMMV but worth asking about.

I've stayed at Wynn twice and love everything about the place. Except for its buffet. Overpriced and mediocre. IMO Paris is the best, and I would even rate Mirage's new buffet considerably better than Wynn's.

No love for Mandalay Bay's buffet? I really enjoyed that buffet, a decent price for all that good food.

Do you happen to know if poker room time counts towards the same type of points as slot play?

Ugh. But then I hate all buffets, so maybe it was good, as buffets go. Buffets seem overpriced to me - bulk food that costs more than a meal in a restaurant. The only thing it has going for it is you can pig out and eat three meals all at once, but I put that sort of thing behind me when I got out of college. I only went because I was in a group, and the leader paid.
