this is some what hard to answer. you could draw a tough table or a soft one. from my own experience, (event 37??)the table i played at for over eight hours played fairly tight and straight up. several laggy players with huge stacks showed up during the course of the day, and their attempts to run over the table left them broke. a "name" player of some stature started at my table, and was the second player knocked out early on. none of us remaining "amatuers" were impressed with his play at all. the cash games i played (2/5 nl) were pretty loose and wild. one session had two players with lots of chips/cash who would take turns putting somebody all-in about every hand. fun to watch while i waited for cards, especially when they played each other. several pots in the 1k to 3k range maybe more.

I played event 37 as well. Made it to just before the bubble (ran into a straight flush, oh well). My first table played tight and relatively passive; very few large pots. My second table had one pro I knew of (John Phan), who was very quiet while I was there. After 10 levels, I would say 6-7 of the players at my table were solid players, 3-4 were soft. I was pleasantly surprised at how soft the tables were but by the bubble stages, the average skill had gone up considerably. I did not play the ME but believe that the other 1500s played similarly.

yeah, missed the dough by about 85 or 90 spots, was still alot of fun. all of the players i saw that day honestly seemed fairly decent, with only a couple of soft spots.

I would say the ME and 1500$ events are very soft. Probably similar to a 10$ MTT online soft. [/ QUOTE ] I don't agree with that at all. I've played in a few $26ish online tournaments and played in a $1500 event at last year's WSOP. There were over 1000 entries in it, and I would say the bottom 200 or 300 were not so good, but after that I thought they were tougher than the online tournaments I've played in (and cashed in). |
