Default Re: Why is everyone giving up?

The reason is : uncertainty No one wants to deposit 10K or so, only to be told next day that they cannot get it out with out using a check. No one knows what the Feds might do further. For that matter, no one knows what the sites might do. They all may give up on one fine day and there will be a big scramble to get the money out.

IMO, there will always be online poker, if you want to play. There will always be some way of getting money in and out, but they will be more difficult to use, more costly, more shady and more toward being illegal.

I don't want to give up.

But I don't want to lose my money online either, so I'll probably be (trying?!) cashing out at least half of the $13,000 I have online.

I want the damn government to let me as an adult, decide how I should use my own money.

Let's see...us governement could block isp's from known gambling sites. The power of us government is hige as we all know and in the past 10 days 2 companies have fallen that were huge in there respective businesses. Our hope, is that its legalized thru the casinos within the usa for online use at some point and its advertised all over the various channels and media at that point. Do we really believe that poker stars and full tilt is going to be allowed to continue serving the us market after what we have just seen?? sad but very true

i think probobly too optimistic. i thought online poker was [censored] when party went down, but then i saw the 5-10 full ring games on stars grow by like 600%. now just a few days after the neteller bomb the games are back to preparty crash. unless stars credits people the fee for epassporte i think its over. epassporte fees are horible.

[/ QUOTE ]

Stars's cash game player count is around 13K. It was at 15K the day before Neteller dropped, 11K at X-mas and 9.5K the day before Party jumped out. Most of the 4K gain between 12/25 and 1/17 were probably due to X-mas vacation. So no big explosion yet. Nothing obvious anyway.

The effects won't show up in one day, obviously. The main problem is that many people are going to have problems getting money in and out of poker sites.

True, Linux. But the effect wouldn't be noticable in 3 days time. The poster I was replying to said they already saw a change to pre Oct 13 levels.

Online poker is going to be so much bigger; you ain't seen nothing yet!

As soon as this planet is running out of oil; that will be the end of online poker!

I can't tell if you're serious, but with no oil, wouldn't there be more online poker? We're all stuck at home, you can't ride a Schwinn to Nevada.
