[ QUOTE ] but I do find it disturbing that in addition to this show we've seem him act in a mocking way to two other players of Asian/Eastern heritage on television in the last year. And while he might argue that he's playing around with his friends....I haven't seen him act in such a mocking way with any other player with the exception of Mattasow. Chen deserved better and I think the poker community was cheated out of a chance for some educational and entertaining discussion. [/ QUOTE ] Lets play : guess the race of this over sensitive poster. [/ QUOTE ] Guess mine too, since I also find Negreanu's 'impressions' often distasteful. |

Im not sure if they are "distasteful" but they sure are repetitive and unfunny. Think we can agree on that. |

What is NVG's obsession with creating drama about DN by blowing things out of proportion? Every week it's like "LOOK WHAT HE SAID ABOUT RAYMER," now "LOOK OMG HE INTERRUPTED CHEN ONE TIME O THE HUMANITY."

public disrespect is the new Respek.
If Daniel isn't trashing you, you have a right to feel disrespected. |

[ QUOTE ] I tuned into the Circuit for the sole reason that both Negreanu and Chen were going to be on the show. I am a fan of both players and thought that their contrasting styles would make for some insightful dialog on the game. Instead I was disappointed to hear Daniel treating Chen in a mocking and disrespectful manner. As is well known in these forums, Chen is no new comer to the game. He's been making contributions to poker theory for years and has been a profitable player. The TWO bracelets won this year were a validation of his experience and abilities. He deserved more respect than was given to him by Negraeau. I think Daniel is a sensative guy and I think he's fair, so I'll try to give him the benefit of the doubt...but I do find it disturbing that in addition to this show we've seem him act in a mocking way to two other players of Asian/Eastern heritage on television in the last year. [/ QUOTE ] he cut him off a lot, and basically did chens interview for him but if you heard two things he said "I wont say a player is good unless they play smallball because it isnt optimal" or something to that effect. he doesnt agree with a mathematically dictated style of play and has criticized andy beal for not folding when you force him to call getting large odds. plus daniel is usually the center of attention and this time it just came off as him being a "holier than thou" pompous ass sort of way which it sometimes does but maybe it was innocent and we're both just imagining it. [/ QUOTE ] You mean Andy Bloch, right? Anyways, yeah, he seems to have a disdain for the "math" type players, but doesnt factor that without the math, they'd likely be nowhere near as good. Daniel's a great player and all, but he's not the best, ( even though I think he thinks he is), and he has a hard time thinking anyone is good if they don't play like him. FWIW, the first WSOP event I ever played, in 2005, I said hi to Bill Chen, mentioning that we played SNG's together alot, and when I came back to the table, this guy who was seeing like half the flops and rarely raising said, "Yeah, brilliant guy, not a very good poker player though". One thing you may never hear is people talking crap about Mrs. Negreanu's cooking. |
