You especially don't want to go I-40/I-17 this time of year because you may run into heavy ice and snow.
As mentioned, the best route in 93 to 60. Then a few miles south of Wickenburg, turn left onto 74, which becomes Carefree Highway. Watch for it, the sign is small. If you miss it, you'll end up in the morass of traffic lights as 60 goes into Phoenix. Be aware the Arizona Highway Patrol is prolific and has no sense of humor. They can be found on any piece of paved road. Bring several hundred in cash with you if you plan to drive over 85 mph, because I've seen them take people to jail, and they don't take checks for bail. |
