holy crap guys... This is from Scott Huffs blog
Me on Live at the Bike Tomorrow Night For those who care: I will be doing color commentary tomorrow night for Live at the Bike. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. PST and runs until 10 p.m. PST. If you're interested in watching check it out at www.liveatthebike.com Super host Bart Hanson will be doing the play by play and I will be doing the color. No, this does not mark a return to poker, though I will be jumping in the booth over at "Live" more often than just this Monday. I do have job out here in Hollywood now. Starting fairly close to the bottom, but I am very excited to get back on track. Anyhow. Check it out tomorrow night. www.liveatthebike.com One love to the nation. |

Yeah, but there's not much more they can learn about these players and probably not a whole lot more they can learn about poker using this format.
Certainly when Bart and Dave signed up for this gig, they did not intend for it to be a long-term commitment. Also, I'm sure they both saw this job as a jumping off point to something bigger in the entertainment field. If true, though, the end of a great, albeit too short run. I will really miss the show. |

My thoughts exactly, VBCardinal. I think Dave's exit will signal the point where Live at the Bike jumps the shark, unless they make some changes and make up for the loss. First, I think Bostin is a good "third man", but the show really needs its commentators to be two professional poker players who play day in and day out. Bart and Dave could engage in an intelligent argument about how to play a hand, based on their experiences everyday in the games at the Bike. But to be brutally honest, Bostin doesn't measure up to Dave in this respect. The show really loses a lot of value without another pro to argue with Bart. As for chatter on non-poker topics, there's nothing better than Dave needling Bart about whatever the topic might be. Bart and Bostin have good chemistry, too, but it's just not the same. Second, the show needs to diversify its game and player base. I think viewers are getting tired of the same players in the same game night in and night out. Let's see some nights with the 300-500 game, or even go find a VERY deep 80NL or 40NL game and move it up to table 00. You'd be surprised at how much action and gamboooling there is in a really deep 80NL game. As for myself, I will keep watching for a while if Dave leaves, but if I'm not getting stimulating analysis from two professionals, I think I'll have to go the way of the Tuckster. [/ QUOTE ] I know I don't speak for everyone, but I personally watch exclusively the 10/20 + games or occasionally the 5/10 game if the lineup is good. I like watching the same players day in and day out, but I can see why some others would like more variety. Dave will certainly be missed, he was no doubt a big part of the show and him and Bart worked very well together. However, the show pretty much hinges on Bart, IMO. He is probably the best announcer in poker history that I've seen, he follows the action really well and has a lot of good fundamental poker knowledge. He has a great voice for the show as well. Bostin as you said is a good short term replacement, but there is no way he should be doing the show full time. In my opinion he is pretty far behind Dave and Bart with understanding more complex NL theory and concepts. Several unique complex situations often come up and you can just tell Bostin doesn't quite "get it". Take that for what it's worth. I hope the show doesn't end or anything, that would be really sad. It's an awesome show. |

I get the feeling that this is more of LATB cutting ties with Dave rather than the other way around. Dave was always saying how much he loved doing the show and that he wanted to see it become bigger and stronger.
That along with the fact that they need to come out with an "official" statement tells me that this is probably more about the show wanting to go in a different direction or having an issue with Dave. |

Well, regardless of the situation, I hope we get the truth - the real truth from Bart. But as I said before, it sounds like the suits have got ahold of the situation, so its unlikely (and I would know since I'm one of the suits in my day job.)
