After much debate and consultation I've decided that my dish will be bacon-wrapped pork chops with hash browns.

I think I'll have a hard enough time making one thing that isn't pasta or toast. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] After much debate and consultation I've decided that my dish will be bacon-wrapped pork chops with hash browns. [/ QUOTE ] nice. |

Beef Tenderloin w/ medley of roasted baby potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, brussel sprouts, and red bell peppers. [/ QUOTE ] Completely appetizing. Nice selection of starch and vegetables, too. Wine choice? |

Cooking is all about trial and error. I believe anyone who can tie their own shoes right can be come a very competent cook with a bit of patience.

Why not just incorporate this into the actual OOT Iron Chef competition?
You can pick a league to enter. I like the idea, but it is redundant. |

I think it would be cool to have a thread for people to post pictures of food, no contest involved.

Ok, I happened to be making ribs tonight already so I guess I might as well post them. I had already started cooking the ribs so I don't have any prep shots but here is how I did it and the final results.
Ingedients 1) Go to Costco and buy a big ass thing of baby back ribs - the one in the airtight sealed packaging. 2) Also pick up at Costco Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce (this is the best stuff in the world), some Montreal Steak Seasoning, and Worcestershire Sauce. ![]() 3) Get some of the instant frozen Jasmine Rice rice from Trader Joes. Also, pick up some broccoli from there. Cooking 1) Preheat oven to about 325 degrees. 2) Put aluminum foil on some cookie sheets. 3) Place racks of ribs on sheets. (I usually cut the ribs into 2 bone pieces, but I was lazy this time) 4) Generously coat the ribs on both sides with the Montreal Steak Seasoning. 5) Place the ribs meat side down and cook for 45 minutes. Then flip the ribs over and cook for another 45 minutes. 6) Take ribs off the aluminum foil and put on a fresh sheet, being careful of all the grease. Turn up the heat on the oven to 425 degrees. 7) Place ribs meat side down and generously lather with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. Cook for about 7 minutes and then flip over. Lather the meat side with BBQ sauce and brown for another 7-8 minutes. 8) Take ribs out and let cool. 9) Make the rice and broccoli now - however you want. I use the microwave for both. The instant stuff from TJs works really well. Then put the broccoli in a microwave safe bowl for like 3 minutes. 10) Cut the ribs into pieces (if you didn't do before hand). Here's the finished product: BBQ on Ribs: Ribs after browning: Ribs Plated: Usually I just throw the stuff on there, but here is my attempt at plating - meh, but the ribs taste effing good! I don't have a bbq at my place yet so I had to do the oven method. I actually find that the oven method works pretty damn well and actually my best ribs have come that way. The ribs brown really well and the meat falls right off the bone. |
