dvo, yeah I never had durian until I went to Vietnam. When I went to Vietnam(born in Minnesota), everything was fair game: durian, snake blood wine, snake soup, snake heart, vit lon(sp?), etc.

That stuff is pretty hideous. I had some Durian candy a friend brought back from Indonesia a few years ago and it tasted like a rotten onion soaked in gasoline.
This summer I had the opportunity to go to Indonesia and wanted to try some fresh Durian but never got the opportunity but I did find one in an Asian market here in the states so I bought it. It was frozen so it didn't have as bad of an odor as a fresh one and the taste was a bit less potent than I expected but it was still very nasty. |

the smell is disgusting to most people. However, if you like the taste of it then the smell actually becomes quite sweet. - Mot How did you like those eggs... I love them. I never had them in asia but I hear they taste even better than they do in the US. |
