beer at football tailgates

boxed wine, other cheap bottled wine, or a classy liquor drink like gin and tonic before dinner parties with fraternity alum

jagerbombs, straight shots of Beam, Cuervo, or vodka before big parties (no chase on the wiskey or tequila but due to bad experiences with vodka, i usually chase with red bull, cranberry juice, orange juice, or beer)

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap gin? I had tangueray (sp?) this weekend and liked it, but its expensive. Any lower priced gins that are good?

yes, Tanqueray(~$22/750mL) is great, and Tanqueray TEN (~$30/750mL)is even better...but still failry cheap considering that there are bottle of gin that go for over 50 or 60 bucks each...willllllddddd
cheaper gins that i like/can deal with on a budget:
Gordon's, Seagram's, and Burnett's are all around 10-12 bucks each, and halfway decent
a step up would be Bombay, Beefeater, and the standard Tanqueray, all about twenty bucks each

without my personal opinions go to this site http://cocktails.about.com/od/spirits/p/gin_brands.htm

Basic rule of thumb for all liquor, if it comes in a plastic bottle, you know it's going to be cheap, but you won't know:
1. if you like it or not
2. if it's good enough for you
3. if it mixes well with mixers like tonic water, gingerale, juice, etc

For me, i'd rather spend another ten bucks to get a good bottle of gin, but i prefer cheap $8 bottle of vodka over grey goose or anyting premium for some weird reason...
My Advice: IT'S ALL PERSONAL PREFERENCE...TRY THEM ALL...JUST NOT IN THE SAME SITTING
