[ QUOTE ] I wasnt thrilled with the Ali G movie. While the individual characters are great, I think what makes his characters really funny is the interaction with unsuspecting people and In da house didnt have that at all. Rumor is a Bruno film is also on tap... [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Indahouse was alright, but Borat will be so much better. I also heard the hype around this movie has started a bidding war for the Bruno movie. I doubt that Bruno will be as good as Borat for this simple fact that it's a lot funnier when people are making fun of stupid southerners rather than fashion executives. Bruno is better in small doses....although with SBC, who knows, maybe he can pull it off. [/ QUOTE ] Actually I think one of the funnier Bruno bits was with the wrestlers on the beach. So he doesnt necessarily need the fashion execs to make it work Bruno and wrestlers |

I may wait until it's showing at one of the theaters that serves beer, [/ QUOTE ] WHAT?!?!?! I had a beer while watching LOTR in Amsterdam and thought it was a uniquely non-north American experience!! What theatre in the US offers beer? |

Wow. Just went order tickets online for this. There are a ton of movie theatres in NYC and most of them aren't showing it. Not downtown. Not in union square. No place with online ordering is showing it. This is weird and annoying. When they said it was going to be in like half as many theatres i figured all of middle america was shut out. looks like downtown manhattan is too? [/ QUOTE ] I think this is just a result of it being a little too soon to order. I would take another look tomorrow afternoon. I would guess the more liberal cities like NY and LA are gonna have a higher concentration of theaters showing it as well. Im in Queens/LI and nothing is showing up yet for me either. |

I just don't think he could carry a movie like Borat can. |

[/ QUOTE ] Since being of legal drinking age I've lived in Madison, WI and Austin, TX. Both have had theaters that sell beer. Madison had the University Square Theater, which essentially had a bar in the concession stand (the block it was on got torn down, I don't know if it relocated). And Austin has the Alamo Draft House with 4 locations and they have waiters and such that come to your table. I've heard of plenty of places that do this. Great experience for a movie. |

If anyone has not seen the Ali G movie - Ali G in Da House, then I HIGHLY recommend you do as it was awesome. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. I thought this movie was really really awful. It is definitely one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I'm a big Ali G fan. |

Actually, Cohen has started using Borat/Bruno more because of this. Too many of his interviewees recognize Ali G and know its a joke. [/ QUOTE ] In yesterday's paper - Cohen's next movie will feature Bruno, the international distribution rights deal was announced yesterday for 42.5 million. All this without a track record, a plot, or a script. 100% built upon the buzz of the upcoming movie... amazing! TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
