Don't listen to anyone telling you you should see some of AC, its a run down dirty slum with casinos, there's no reason to go anywhere but The Borgata.

If you are playing poker for the fun, then the sng's , but the rake and structure are terrible if you are looking to make money, basically they're for the tourists. Play cash games if you are trying to make money, bring about 1500-2000 if you want to play 1/2NL, its very soft, but the variance can be pretty high, so a 3-4 buy in swing isn't out of the ordinary for a winning player.

You don't need to 1500-2000 to play 1/2 NL for a day, but 500 might not be enough.

I actually like govman's idea. You don't really have the bankroll for any serious stakes; there are many casinos in AC that will offer the games in your price range. So why not sample a few casinos and see what you like? If you run bad, your money will last longer if you take a walk along the boardwalk in between buy-ins.

If you are looking to play middle or high limits, or a decently-structured MTT, Borgata is really the only place to go. But their 1/2 NL game is no better than anywhere else.

Exactly. What's with people acting like there's sightseeing in AC? Atlantic City, and anything within thirty miles, is a fucking dump. Go to Borgata, be happy, leave, feel depressed that people live in such a lifeless hole.

i didn't wanna say it first, but yeah man. my buddy got pistol whipped in broad daylight near the outlets. You can't walk around past 5 w/o a fat hooker asking you for money, but you can pawn gold 24 hours a day. And as to the variance on 1-2, it's true, but that is true of 1-2 at any B&M. You are going to get sucked out on. However, 500-600 is more than enough to buy in short a few times, enjoy yourself, and probably make some money.

Were I to ever to go AC again (which I won't) I would basically never, ever leave the Borg.

Going to AC without going to borgata is like going to Disney World and sleeping on the streets in the outskirts of the town.

FYP. Point well taken, but the area around Walt Disney World is either $400K houses or woods - not dangerous.
