This conversation is drifting away from the purpose of this forum, which is to discuss poker legislation. There is a different forum to discuss politics in general, and the closer we adhere to that division, the better off the discussion will be in both forums.

71 votes and it is relatively equal with republicans in the slight lead. I find it interesting.

FWIW I would be considered very conservative (except for playing online poker)

It will skew slightly democratic because the avg age in here tends to skew towards college age which traditionally is a liberal demographic. Someone once said (paraphrasing)....if you are young and not liberal, your not alive. As you get older and aren't conservative your just plain stupid.....something along those lines.

[/ QUOTE ]

The actual quotation is:

"If you're not liberal when you're young, you have no heart. If you're not conservative when you're older, you have no brain."

Winston Churchill is commonly given credit for this although no official record of him saying it has been found.

Thanks. He says it far better than I could ever say it. The funny part is that the older I get the more true this statement becomes.

I don't think this thread needs to be taken elsewhere. Its a fun little look into the minds of the people interested in this legislation. I appreciate the efforts of the mods, but a little dance outside the normal issues should be allowed on occasion.

Actually i asked the question because of poker legeslation. The Libertarian Party is the only one (besides maybe Green) that will always and consistently uphold the poker player's right to play free of legeslation. That's why i thought there may be more libertarians than other groups among gamblers in general.

If you want the government to intrude economically, you're a liberal. If you want the government to intrude socially, you're a conservative. If you want the government to intrude everywhere, you're a moderate. If you want the government not to intrude at all, you're an extremist.

The only difference is the green party would tax it.

I'd be okay with them taxing it (you are already paying taxes on your poker winnings anyways, right?). Just don't make it illegal. I don't need a babysitter.
