[ QUOTE ] Totally reasonable. I'd be thrilled if I was in a tournament against you. WTF? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure what you mean by this. I guess you are assuming that 3 people under the same roof cannot participate in a tournament without cheating. I disagree. My brothers-in-law live in another state. Occasionally we get together for the holidays, etc. We'd like to be able to play an online tournament together for fun. I can understand why the online sites need to be vigilant - but assuming the only reason to play from the same location is for the purposes of cheating, is ridiculous. [/ QUOTE ]I don't understand this....your family lives far away. You can play online anytime against each other in your own houses. Yet the one time you get to see them and spend time with them, you want to go into different rooms and play poker? Why not actually do something where you can interact with them while they're visiting and save this for when you're in different states? |

I don't know about SNG's...but I thought most sites allow you to play in the same MTT. Granted you won't be at the same tables. The software keeps the same IP from playing on the same table (until you get closer to the final table at least).
Recall reading two people from same house (husband and wife) getting away with it. Although maybe they got the ok from support first...or maybe they stopped allowing that because of possible issues with cheating. |

What sites don't allow this? I've done it on UB and Stars, though not since a week or so after the ZJ scandal broke, so policies may have changed.
I'm going to be annoyed if my roommate wants to play FTOPS or WCOOP HORSE and we aren't both allowed to. It's not like your NLHE donkaments where most of the time you can just wander to any other online site and play a similar tournament. |

Me and my buddy are not allowed to sit at the same SnG or cash game table because I have logged in from his computer before. Yet we've played in the same MTT and been sat together at the very first table before. |

Set up a private tourney, I think then you can play from the same IP.

Seriously, it pains me to think that people would rather play online than live in this situation. It reminds me of my ex who would bitch about me never spending any quality time with her. Of course her idea of QT was the two of us sitting on the couch watching friends reruns while not talking. Get the deck of cards and some pennies and get everyone involved. [/ QUOTE ] You do know the definition of "Quality Time" according to a woman? It doesn't count as Quality Time if the boyfriend's not miserable doing whatever the GF has selected to do. |

If any site allowed you to do this, I would instantly stop playing there. I'm sure that many feel like me. [/ QUOTE ] I don't assume that the ONLY reason to play from the same location is to cheat. I believe that some people out there really do like to play tourneys together in this way. But it's obvious that they can't freaking allow this because it would make cheating extremely easy (even though it kind of already is with IM and cell-phones, etc). I suspect that if they allowed this for super-duper exceptions where they could really prove that it's just a bunch of relatives who can probably be trusted that EVEN THEN there would be cheating incidents because the temptation to say something to your bud when you get at the same table would be just too great even for people who didn't even intend on cheating in the first place. "Hey dude!! I've got Kings so don't play this hand." "Cool, I had ATs and was going to try to steal your blind." |
