I normally like walking, but when I walk around Los Angeles I have to walk with a mean strut so gangsters don't front on me.

Like guids, I live in a great walking neighborhood and love to walk. I kind of dislike big cities in general but having everything in walking distance is probably my favorite thing about them.

Diablo,

The fact that this thread was moved from Automobiles to OOT obviously demonstrates the need for an Other Transportation forum.

I'd rather have a second Automobile forum that discusses automobiles in a sane, civilized, content-rich fashion.

I think "Freestyle Walking" on MTV (several years back) more or less ruined all credibility walking still maintained.

Think about who you see walking these days:
1)People who 'want to exercise' but don't want to jog. I admire joggers/runners. I'm annoyed by walkers.
2)The Homeless
3)People w/ DWI's (though many of them have upgraded to biking)
4)Young teenagers who want to be out, but aren't old enough to drive.

Well as long as you aren't using those motorized carts when you shop at walmart I think you are fine.

Is walking played out? I remember when I was a kid, I used to walk pretty much everywhere I would want to go. The neighborhood ice cream place, the playground, my friend Dominick's house (who had Colecovision and the Castle Greyskull playset!).

Nowadays, I find myself driving more. To go food shopping, run errands, go to other states, etc.

I think I'm going to make an effort to walk more.

pretty much anything passes for a thread nowadays huh? probably in a few days there will be a "walking trip report" thread. "today i went for a walk. it was my first walk in 3 weeks and it felt pretty good, i recommend you guys try it out and then maybe continue doing it a couple times a week regularly." bunch of fools you all are.
