You need Broken Social Scene. Check out Built To Spill (like others said), Metric, Stars. Definitely Joy Division and The Pixies like KBZ said.

Can someone put the Architecture In Helsinki album on some file-sharing thing like megaupload or whatever it's called?

The site I normally buy my music from doesn't have it, and I have no idea where a record store that has it is around here. And I'm used to paying $2/album so I'm not crazy about shelling out $15 for a band whose songs I've never heard.

Thanks

Pavement is a must, please run out and by slanted and enchanted NOW.

And wolf parade is da sheeeeeeett, Apologies to the Queen Mary was the best album of 2005. The lead singer also has a side project called Sunset Rubdown that's also very good.

For artists with multiple albums, they are in order of preference.

Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica; Lonesome Crowded West; This Is A Long Drive for Someone With Nothing To Think About
Wolf Parade - Apologies To the Queen Mary
Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming
New Pornographers - Mass Romantic
Interpol - Turn On the Bright Lights; Antics
The Strokes - Is This It; Room On Fire
Radiohead - The Bends
Tapes n' Tapes - The Loon
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
Pixies - Surfer Rosa; Doolittle

They aren't indie... but try these:

Godspeed You Black Emperor - F#A#(infinity)
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
Dredg - El Cielo

I forgot the Eels, which is odd because they're one of my favorite bands. For specific albums you can't really go wrong, but try Blinking Lights and Other Revelations or Souljacker.

seen 'em both already!
is Clap Your Hands touring with AIH? I know the latter is going to be in Houston September 20 and I was planning to go, if CYH is there too that's just double extra incentive (and right after Austin City Limits to boot! Woooo music overload)

AIH is opening for clap your hands, but checking the CYHSY website it looks like they're not going to be in houston septebmer 20th.
