Get out of this trend, and move more toward always 3/4ths pot or full potting it. It will make later, bigger decisions easier for you. Half-pot bets get lots of callers, and it's often hard as hell to read what they have.

Why do we want to take it down right there? We are about 55-45 ahead against any single pair (well, maybe not 66). So getting more of their money is the point - not to make them fold.

Just to clarify, what I write "or take it down on the flop" I am obviously not talking about a golden flop like this.

But on a flop that look good for taking it down, I would still bet $5 (1/2 pot)..if check to me.
