The Schuylkill is pretty much flooding like it's never flooded before. The Delaware is going to flood worse than in the floods of April '05. Brandywine Creek, Neshaminy Creek, Perkiomen Creek are all flooding/will flood. Yardley is getting hit pretty bad, New Hope, Trenton, etc. are also getting hit. I'm in Langhorne and so far Neshaminy Creek has flooded out some of the roads along 413.
Most of the severe flooding is going to come later tonight, since most of the area hasn't peaked yet. Some places are anticipated to go 10+ feet above flood stage, so it will get bad. Last report is that 200,000 have been ordered evacuated. I'm lucky that my wife and I aren't in an area that will flood, but there is going to be a lot of damage. I'd like to break in for a second and opine that "East Coast Floods" would be a fine name for a band. Alternatively: "East Coast Floodz!"

Living in New Orleans means dealing with these sorts of conditions regularly. FOlks in the affected areas, do not try to drive through the high water. It is a whole lot more dangerous than you think it is, but it is so tempting to try to make it through. |

This area got more rain than Agnes dumped in ’72, but the western areas didn’t get nearly as much. There is an earthen dam in Montgomery County that is 25 feet above flood stage and they are worried that it will fail in the next three days. Right now the Susquehanna, Schuylkill, and Delaware are rising rapidly. My parents live in that region and they said that there is talk of opening all the floodgates at Conowingo. Conowingo is currently at 22 feet above normal (flood is 23.5) It will be Friday before the rivers crest.

I did hear DC got pwned though. True? [/ QUOTE ] We got rocked at certain points and in certain areas. My area wasn't flooded too badly, but there have been times when going outside was basically like walking into a creek. I'm originally from Bucks County, my parents live in Richboro and haven't told me stories of great flooding, but the news makes it seem pretty bad. |
