Is it common practice to tip on takeout orders? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, if the hostess has to get your order, it is nice to tip them (a smalish amount is ok). However, it is not mandatory, and if you don't tip, they won't get as mad at you as a waiter/waitress would. I tip in these situations, but I think a lot of people don't... |

Giving your number to a hostess you have previously dated doesn't qualify. [/ QUOTE ] This was the main point of my previous post. But now I realize you may be asking, per Tdarko's post, if this was a good tactic? Even though she was really busy - you still could've given her your number in a more direct fashion (e.g. "hey, here's my number [hand her your card or whatever] give me a call sometime, great seeing you"). Cause that would take like 4 seconds and probably be more effective. Tpir - that feels about right. -Al |

You really should have left a napkin with "Backdoor Beauty?" written on it.

PITTM, I actually saw a guy do this not too long ago, and coincidentally it was at a Sushi/Hibachi spot. It our waitress that this happened to and we were here first table after reading it and she told us all about it and how cheesy it was. She then went to all of the hostesses and other waitresses and showed them the note and they all laughed and sighed. When she came back again she said she didn't understand it, if someone wanted to actually take her out, and/or get to know her, they need to have the balls to actually do this in person...leaving notes to and her female co-workers was a sign of weakness is basically what I got out of it. Also, my gf was a bartender/waitress for awhile a few years ago and she hated this as well. But hey, it may work for you! [/ QUOTE ] darko. i agree that the vast majority of waitresses would hate this in most situations. i posted this because in my mind it was a situation where doing this actually made sense and was asking for confirmation from others if that actually did make sense in this spot. rj |

[ QUOTE ] Is it common practice to tip on takeout orders? [/ QUOTE ] Wow, didn't notice that. No way do I give a tip here. Write "you will get a more than just the tip if you call me." [/ QUOTE ] |

It makes less sense than just waiting 2 minutes when she's free and saying hey give me your number lets go out sometime.
