I think he was completely in the right re; headhunting. I'm not a Sox fan, but Ozzie wants the game played the right way. Power to him.

right way = way of the dumb

I'm a Sox fan, so clearly I'm biased at the moment.

First off, I'd rather have him than the clown they have on the north side.

Second, Ozzie is a breath of fresh air after Jerry Manuel. Jerry had some pretty powerful teams for his last 3 years and each year the team underperformed. Sure you can put some blame on the players, but some of that has to fall on the manager. I think a lot of Jerry's problem was handling the bullpen, something which Ozzie does pretty well (not afraid to use someone else to close, etc.)

Third, even if you don't agree with what he says or how he thinks the game should be played, he's honest about it. And entertaining.

watching LaRussa and Ozzie tonight was the battle royale of the mental midgets

Well, yeah, but that's not much of a compliment. Anyone is better than Dusty Baker. Ozzie is a good quote, but I want him gone because I agree he's a douchebag.

[ QUOTE ]
How great was it when Michael Barrett gave Pierzynski a punch in the kisser, and AJ just stood there stunned?

[/ QUOTE ]
On what planet was this ok, but what Ozzie does is out of control? I swear, for some reason I hear Barrett get lauded a bit too much on these boards for this incident. If it had been A.J. doing the same thing you'd be screaming for the death penalty. Compare A.J. to the crap Barrett has been pulling the last couple years (incidents with Oswalt last year, Dave Roberts of the Padres this year and the Pierzynski incident) and tell me which of the two is the biggest douchebag. If you still say A.J., you're not looking objectively.

[ QUOTE ]
Guillen is obviously out of control. I predict he gets the boot soon.

[/ QUOTE ]
Hit our people, we'll hit yours. That's been going on in baseball since the beginning. Perhaps you need to examine why that's "out of control" when Guillen follows those guidelines but it's "just baseball" when 29 other managers do it.

People love to defend idiots by saying, "at least they speak their mind," or "at least he's honest." George Bush gets that defense a lot.

Of course we don't like phoney BS artists. But there's something to be said for some balance and tact. I don't think he should be given carte blanche just because he's honest.

I'm not going to spend too much time defending Barrett's actions. But a difference is that he picked the fight on his own. Also, I dislike AJ, so it was nice watching him catch one in the kisser.

In a subsequent post I said that I'm all for throwing at hitters. I agree it's part of the game. I don't like when the throwing is so blatantly ordered by the wacky manager. It should be done in a way that an 8 year old kid would just assume the pitcher lost a little control, but adults will have to assume it was on purpose.

Because other teams throw at the White Sox players first. Ozzie has not instigated the start of any of said beanball wars. His guys get hit twice and then HE gets warned. It's pure BS. You can only take so much until you have to retaliate. None of this was started by Ozzie as other teams start it almost routinely.

It must be hard to resist the temptation to send the douche off on a tirade.
