Default Luongo for Bertuzzi.

From TSN :

The Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers have completed a multi-player trade involving some big names on the eve of the NHL Draft.

The Panthers have confirmed that they acquired Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen and Alexander Auld from the Canucks in exchange for Roberto Luongo and Lukas Krajicek.

Big news - I like the deal for both sides. Luongo is only an RFA for one more season, and Bertuzzi really won't drag the Panthers' cap situation down since the Panthers won't be good for another three seasons. It's a win-win trade.

Also: Rod Brind'Amour signed to 5 year deal worth 18 million dollars. Bad deal - B'A is getting 3 years at 4M and 2 years at 3. Those last two years he will not be worth that money.

Who cares, the Sharks will win the Cup next year.

Rumors for the Sharks, POSSIBLY trading Nabby before the no-trade clause kicks in... Owen Nolan returning... Korky returning...

Looks like Scott Thornton is leaving.

Ooops, I didn't mean to say "Who cares" to that!! I meant it to the offseason. I officially hate the Panthers now. I think the Canucks got a steal here. Although, I don't know much about the D-players swapped. Anyone have more info on the D exchange?

SPORTSNET REPORTS THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS HAVE DEALT FORWARD TODD BERTUZZI, DEFENCEMAN BRYAN ALLEN AND GOALIE ALEX AULD TO THE FLORIDA PANTHERS IN EXCHANGE FOR GOALTENDER ROBERTO LUONGO, DEFENCEMAN LUKIS KRAJICEK AND A 6TH ROUND PICK!

Ugh, I totally agree with you. I love Brindy, but he'll be 36 in a month.

Triumph,
Have you heard anything on Jay McKee as far as his chances of staying or who is interested?

I have read where the NYR are going to go after McKee rather then a higher priced guy like Chara. Although that was just speculation on a beat writers part.

Sounds like a wise thing to do. Fortunately it's the Rangers though.

Krajicek is a good 3-6 defenseman not a top 2 guy. No idea about Allen, never really watched him play but their stats are very similar. More size to Allen but youth to LK.

Anyway, Vancouver got the best player in this deal by a long shot, that is how trades are usually measured. Of course, if Auld becomes a true #1 goalie and Bertuzzi regains some assemblance of form (doubtful) then the deal is not as bad.

I can not imagine a Panther fan that knows hockey would be very happy about this deal.

Especially if the rumor that LA Kings were offering Frolov, Garon, and Brown was true. That would have been a MUCH better deal than what VAN offered.

Panthers first line:

Peltonen-Jokinen-Bertuzzi

2 power forwards.
