There's no lower form of life than a table coach... unless maybe the affiliate (j/k).

Pleeease don't give lessons at the table. Nobody likes to be patronized.

There is a guy, Artbarry, on Party that is always yelling at the fish for playing bad. He will sit there and berate and call them all sorts of XXXXX'd out names, even though he is usually beating them in the hands he's whining about them calling with 85o or whatever. I make sure to point out how much of a retard he's being for yelling at people while beating them, but he keeps on doing it. He runs at like 38/5 though and I have him as a losing player over 2000 hands or so, perhaps that's why he's so bitter.

You all know this but I am feeling kinda bad for this guy who at my table, not only did he play kinda bad but he ran into a bunch of monster hands.

The thing was he was very polite about it and said NH a few times, never bitched or complained about some of the nice second best hands he lost with. He dropped 4 buy ins and then people at the table started in on how bad he was and took it to the level of disrespecting him.

I dont think the 200$ he lost is gonna kill the guy, but he does not deserve to be berated by better players about how badly he sucks. Many fish dont really mind losing some money but they want to have a good time or at least not be insulted while they are doing it. Take their money, let them keep their dignity.

Like I said I know you all know this but I guess a reminder dont hurt.

thx for the reminder that we all want fish to come back.

<------ Guilty of sarcasticly saying 'Thx' to a bigstack fish whenever I won at showdown. (SnG)

Is it too late to start by not referring to them as "fish"?

Ego's are funny things....we all have them, but some of us are more in control of them than others.

It is my observation that the 'table coaches/beraters' of online play are those who's ego's are weak.

This us usually accomapanied by a mid-level knowlege and skill-set of the game....They think that they know more than they really do......Something that an observant player can take advantage of!

When one of these bozo's gets out of line, I will generally try to make some kind of a comment that will give me an idea of whether or not they are just another idiot, or are they a decent player who may be on tilt from a bad session.

I will try to take the heat of the player that is the target of their comments for two reasons.

#1 - As a person, I don't appreciate that kind of behavior.

#2 - I want as many weak players at my table as possible...I like it when my EV increases.

This never fails to amaze me. Usually the person doing the berating does not understand some fundamental things about poker, but not always.

I've been berated by 2+2ers before. Its really completely unacceptable and very costly in the long run.

Why would you ever insult the people who's money you are taking? Its the equivalent of having a big leak in your play.

I wasn't a Psych. major, but I would say just the opposite. Their ego (and self image) are greatly inflated. They not only think they are superior to their "student" but they need to make sure everyone else knows they are superior.
Phil Hellmuth is the poster child.

This I definitely agree with. Maybe we mean the same thing, just different understanding of terms.
