I'd think he'd repop the flop with a big hand, so my guess is he has some sort of draw or maybe a semi-decent hand that he's looking for a cheap showdown. He probably isn't putting much money in if he has a cheap showdown hand.

2 options I see:

1) Bet something smallish on the turn, like 500 or so. Perhaps he'll call with a draw.

2) Once you check the turn, I like checking the river as well, since a spade draw got there.

Why do people think he has AJ or a draw or something? HE HAS AN OVERPAIR. AKspade is prolly 3-betting allin on the flop, as well as a set. AJ is just very unlikely for a lot of reasons.

I think villain has AA/KK here. I'm not sure, but maybe that massive flop raise lost you some action on turn and river?

I think the turn can go either way here; Strassa makes a good point, but he leaves out the fact that villain could be drawing himself. By checking you give him a chance to improve to a second best hand or possibly even get him to fire at the turn where he has to fold to a bet.

I don't mind the way you played it, I have a sneaking suspicion that villain was holding KQ

villain was not holding KQ. villain was holding AA/KK and is scared about a set/2pair but also doesnt want to fold since it seems to weak to muck an overpair here on the flop when empiremaker can have any of like 300 draws. i dont get why people are havin a difficult time with this one. the turn killed your action against AA/KK. might as well pot the turn like strassa said, and hope villain puts you on a draw/bluff.

I'd push turn to represent the draw and hope he thinks I'm FOS.

On the flop, I prefer a lead-3bet all-in.
