Wow! Nice find on the link!! You're right. I never played a hand in CA before, and I NEVER in a million years would've thought to look up standard CA chip colors!

Hope you realize I'm being slightly tongue in cheek. I don't really think they're trying to cheat anyone. But I did find it a little dangerous. When you've played thousands of hours with whites being a dollar and black being $100, it's not that hard to make a mistake. Especially a space cadet like me.

Btw- The Commerce starts over-sizing their chips at $5k I think.

Oh, and $10 is officially blue in Atlantic City, though I've only seen them at the Borgata.

They have them at the Taj, too, for 40/80. The game rarely kicks off but I saw one this weekend, so maybe there will be a regular one this summer. The blue chips there are new and shiny since they are rarely used, a staunch difference from the dirty red ones.

Yellow is $20 at the Borgata, haven't seen them at the Taj.

Default Odd chip silliness at the Borgata

FWIW I noticed a single yellow $20 and a blue $10 in the tray in a $1-2 NL game at the Borgata. Just to convince the table I was a bit eccentric (Caroesquely, I suppose), and because I enjoy being a nerd about such things, I bought them and put them into play. I was sorta surprised that the dealers (Lourdes, Julissa, and Chandra IIRC) didn't color them out, but they indulged my silliness.

But then my conscience kept reminding me of the recent "hidden high-denom chip trick" thread, and I thought someone else might accuse me of shooting angles. So I colored them out myself using some spare quarters that I had on hand but not playing.

But hmm, I've never seen the Taj's blues, though Archie Black has a photo here. I'll have to see if I can spot the $40/80 there.

And now, I've officially contributed to the hijacking of this thread.

Yeah, they look really really new. They had a 40 game running this past Saturday at around 2 pm. I assume there will be one again this weekend, especially because of the holiday.

Lestat,

At Lucky Chances near SF, 20s are black and 100s are white.

Anyway, for next time, stop being such a cheapskate and avoid confusion at the same time by doing what the rest of us do when at Commerce - toss the waitress a redbird for your meal!

I thought the tipping standards were:

-$100 for the dealer when you win a hand

-$200/$400 for the dealer if it's a big pot (over $100)

-$400 for a meal, $1000 if there's meat in it

-$2000 for the floor to get your name first on the wait list

Follow these standards and you won't be looked upon as the cheap as$ nit who only cares about the bottom line. It may cost you money in the short term but it will give you a good image and will allow a cumfortable table atmosphere.

Taj now has a 40-80 stud game (replaced 30-60) which uses all blue chips. The 40 goes off here and there but I heard it went Saturday (with two tables).
