You want hands that are drawing nearly dead to call. I'd 3bet enough to not give odds to the draws, but not too much so that he might call with Ax (if he's bad enough for that, a solid player would fold that of course.)

So let's say I 3 bet but don't push all in and a spade falls on the turn--what non-flush hands that he has call if I push turn?
The power of pushing = fold-equity is only part of the equation. If you can put villain on a range of 2nd best hands that will call a push, then better to do so when the getting is good, no?

If you think a push will get called by lesser hands because it looks "fishy" on your part, then do it. Against an unknown, I re-raise to $55 and push any turn. If he calls, at that point the pot will be ~$120 and you'll be pushing < $50 bucks. And if you get stacked by KT, well, it was gonna happen anyway. And who is V. Marcill?
