There's no point in challenging yourself without the confidence. You'll fail. That simple. [/ QUOTE ] I had no real problems adjusting to the bigger levels, only the more aggression was something i had to get used to. And i played like 60k hands at 25NL. I felt pretty confident. |

Fletcher - yeah, you'll be at it again tomorrow, no problem. Good luck, a 7BI day hurts like hell. Had a few myself!
...................... [ QUOTE ] There's no point in challenging yourself without the confidence. You'll fail. That simple. [/ QUOTE ] Vyse, did you basically skip 50NL and move to 100NL? I have got quite a bit of advice recently that staying at 50NL for any length of time is just death. I am really starting to think it's true and that it is just the most bizarre black hole of poker. And yet at the same time, I know of several posters here who beat 50 for a good amount over a small sample (i.e. perhaps didn't pay their dues) but found 100 just a bit too much for them and had to drop back down pretty quickly. |

I haven't played very many hands at 50 NL, ~5k. I've cashed out most of my roll so I'm back to grinding 25 NL and will be back at 50 NL next month. I could play it now if I really wanted to and I know in absolute terms I'm good enough to beat it, but I just want more hands under me. I toy with my game a lot and I'd rather do that at 25 NL than at 50 NL. Plus it's less stressful, and I had a problem adjusting to the money even though I had 25 BI for the level.

but why are you not feeling confident then, if ur winning over a decent sample? Pls help me think outside my box cos i dont understand. I usually cant restrain myself to move up lol, when i got 1.5k im gonna take shots at 100 NL, but when it goes bad and i lose some buyins i go back at 50. Im very disciplined in that.
I think that u just dont have the gamble then, the thrill of moving up trying something new and learn new things on the new level. Personally i really dislike these lower levels. Sometimes i play head up with decent players, and I really like that, the adrenaline, the kick if you can outplay them and all. You can float these guys, crawl in there heads, and that is really hard for most of the dumb pple at 50NL, calling u down with everything and nothing. |

I am just curious. Any of you guys who play on FTP have stats for Saw Flop % for NL25? On Stars it's 33-35%.

but why are you not feeling confident then, if ur winning over a decent sample? [/ QUOTE ] As I said, I am toying with many different ideas and change [censored] up a lot. I'm not going to stay up to a level while doing so because I'm going to play scared, which I already proved cause I was playing scared earlier. [ QUOTE ] Pls help me think outside my box cos i dont understand. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like losing. If I'm not fully prepared for the next level, I'm not going to go up. Of course if I had like $100 or $200, I'd go right to 25 NL because I know I rape it. I learn whatever level I'm at very well and am extremely comfortable with it and don't mind playing it at any bankroll, so if I can't do that for the next level, I'll wait until I can. [ QUOTE ] I think that u just dont have the gamble then, the thrill of moving up trying something new and learn new things on the new level. [/ QUOTE ] I prefer the thrill of getting better now so I don't have to work on a million things later that I should've already solved. [ QUOTE ] Personally i really dislike these lower levels. [/ QUOTE ] When I earn the right to go up to the higher levels to play the better players, I'll play them then. Viewing poker like that was huge -EV for me so I changed the way I view [censored]. |
