[ QUOTE ] When I played at WSEX a few years back, when the games were very juicy, no way in hell were they using Bots. [/ QUOTE ] Why would a bot have to be a good player? [/ QUOTE ] I can't imagine a site trying to cheat you with a fish bot? not that I believe that's what's going on. |

this is a classic example of "johnny come lately's"
People wait to see if online poker is going to make money, and then when the site goes public, they buy and the stock takes a dump, because the normal market correction happens. the "knockoffs" or "discount" stores take over with the more economic methods of operation, and the profit gets squeezed. |

I agree. This is just like offering prop deals to everyone. Maybe everyone will go nuts when they find out there's about a dozen sites about the same size as WSEX where you can usually get 100-150% RB. [/ QUOTE ] I think the big difference is WSEX is already an established gambling site. The poker might be pretty dead but it's sports book has one of the best reps in the industry. I've read a little about the other Rake Free projects. They always seemed like attempts being made by people trying to get their foot in the door. WSEX however, is one of the pioneers of the industry. If anything they are the ones that put the door there in the first place. |

FHM seems to be involved in the UK which along with the tournaments etc they are pushing would suggest that the core player base may well be more european. May well be it is busier in the US afternoon. I did think FHM was a skin of Tribecca but mabe they moved, I havent read FHM for about 5 years so havent kept up to date. [/ QUOTE ] Like you ever read it. |

[ QUOTE ]
They might be using no-rake poker as a way to attract people to their sportsbook, where they will make the money. Thats all I can think of. [/ QUOTE ] They give that actual reason on their website. BTW, that's how Richard Branson started out. He set up Virgin Records as a store in the London West End. He sold his records at a loss in order to get customers. Done rather well for himself - no? |

The reason to do this is to drive business to the sportsbook and casino. However the clever reason is that overtime they go from 100% rakebcak, to 95% rakeback (we need to cover our costs), to 90% rakeback to.... This is highly unlikely to last for a long time at 100% but if it takes off then Party and other sites will be under huge pressure to reduce their rake or give more rakeback schemes to everyone which can only be a good thing. I'm really hoping it takes off.
