Nothing wrong with the k7 shove, there is a high prob of a fold by Kenny (in late position) and increasing his stack by 30% without a flop....Kenny woke up with AA so it goes in a tourney.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe. But the quality of your hand actually does matter in these sorts of spots, giving reasonable odds to a bigger stack. Which nobody at the tables seems to realize.

rom RaiNKhan's Cardplayer blog:

On one hand, I knocked out Avi Cohen with A-K against A-8. ESPN caught my reaction which was pure excitement. Hopefully, I don't come across as arrogant or a bad sport. I'm just here in the final few tables of the World Series of Poker. Who wouldn't be overcome with emotion? It's so pure and simple in a way. You can win or lose and it's just so exciting. I feel like a sports star, in a way, that just kicked the winning goal at the world cup for my team. I love it, this is the greatest thing that I've ever done in my life and I'm just happy that I'm here.

I do think it's genuine emotion. The guy is totally pumped to be this far in the ME, though I can understand how the celebration doesn't sit well when you just knocked someone out.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough. But those with class channel their emotions in ways that are considerate of others.

Featured Table - Jon Kalmar Doubles Through Daniel Alaei

On the Featured Table, Jon Kalmar says "Raise" from middle position, but throws in more than half a raise but less than a full raise -- regardless of his originally intent, he is required to make the minimum raise to 120,000. Daniel Alaei reraises from the button to 540,000, and Kenny Tran thinks things over for a minute in the big blind before he folds.

The action is back to Kalmar, he moves all in for 1.69 million, and Alaei calls with {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Kalmar shows {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, and as the shorter stack, he'll need them to hold up to stay alive. (Tran says that he folded pocket jacks.)

The flop comes {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and Kalmar flops a set of kings for a dominating lead. Alaei needs something runner-runner to win the hand.

The turn card is the {7-Clubs}, the river card is the {3-Clubs}, and Jon Kalmar wins the pot with his three kings, doubling up to about 3.4 million in chips.

[/ QUOTE ]

Am I just picking on the guy now, or is this another really questionable play by Alaei?

edit: btw, thank god for our boy bjnemeth, or we'd be getting no hand reports at all

Featured Table - Christian Togsverd Eliminated in 33rd Place ($285,678)

Featured Table Hand #4 - Jon Kalmar has the button in seat 3, Kenny Tran raises from early position to 180,000, Tuan Lam calls from middle position, Stefan Mattson calls from the small blind, Christian Togsverd moves all in from the big blind for about 1.8 million, Tran folds, and Lam thinks for a few minutes before he calls. Mattson quickly folds.

Togsverd shows {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, and Lam shows {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Togsverd needs to improve to survive.

The flop comes {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and Lam flops a set of queens to take a dominant lead in the hand. Togsverd needs something runner-runner to survive.

The turn card is the {4-Spades}, and Togsverd is drawing dead. (The meaningless river card is the {J-Diamonds}.) Lam wins the pot with his set of queens.

Christian Togsverd is eliminated in 33rd place, earning $285,678.

That's a bad call by Alaei. But we can't know what type of read or recent table action went into his call.

Khan sounds like a jackass. I hope he loses in some crushing way.

True. But from here, the whole hand looks like a tilt play from start to finish.
